Recently launched hardwired collection from Stickbulb now online, only at YLighting
YLighting is pleased to announce that it is exclusively offering the hardwired collection from Stickbulb, a New York City-based brand from the internationally acclaimed architecture and product design firm RUX. The hardwired line includes vertical and horizontal sconces as well as linear pendants.
Stickbulb creates handmade LED lighting using reclaimed wood, such as ipe salvaged from Coney Island and Atlantic City’s boardwalks, as well as southern yellow pine from demolished buildings in the New York City area. In addition to a commitment to use sustainably sourced wood, Stickbulb manufactures its artisanal designs locally—within a five-mile radius of its Long Island City office.
“Stickbulb combines the beauty of reclaimed and sustainably sourced woods with energy- efficient LED technology to create a collection of standard and customizable light fixtures,” says Stickbulb partner Chris Beardsley. “Its minimal form factor allows us to literally build with light. There is no online retailer we would rather partner with to showcase our designs than YLighting.”
The hardwired lamps feature sleek wooden beams in one-to-six-foot lengths that plug into and out of minimal metal hardware connectors without tools. These “plug and play” components are readily interchangeable, allowing for unlimited creativity and customization. Stickbulb also carries a series of floor and table lamps that it launched in 2012.
“We always seek out innovative, contemporary brands for our customers and Stickbulb certainly meets that criteria,” explains YDesign Group CEO Sean Callahan. “Not only is the hardwired collection exceptionally well made and truly unique, it’s eco-friendly to boot. We are thrilled to be the exclusive online retailer.”

It is every architect’s dream to build with light. The Stickbulb collection takes this aspiration literally. Sleek wooden beams come in one-to-six-foot lengths and are designed to plug into and out of various steel hardware connectors without tools. The result is a light-up erector set of interchangeable components enabling unlimited customization and creativity. Inspired by a pile of long, linear wooden cut-offs in their workshop, RUX designers challenged themselves to develop a truly sustainable lighting system. As a starting point, they only considered designs that could be manufactured locally and affordably within a five-mile radius of their New York City office. They chose to use reclaimed and sustainably sourced woods as a primary building material, and sourced energy-efficient LED technologies and components. The collection was designed with the least number of parts possible and with connections that make the pieces easy to separate for maintenance, recycling, or reuse. Stickbulb was co-founded in 2012 by RUX founder and creative director Russell Greenberg and partner Christopher Beardsely.
